Are you interested in using Community Health Workers and Promotores model to provide transformative support to your communities, residents, and patients? Become a Partner CHW and Promotores Affiliate today!
The Promotores de Salud/Community Health Worker model is based on specific guiding principles. Research confirms that it is not enough to merely hire workers and deploy them in the community as “outreach worker.” Instead, research shows that effective Promotores meet certain characteristics and are supported by organizations with specific features.
“We are not here to compete with our partners, we are here to support each other and build our capacity, together”.
El Sol has over 20 years implementing the Community Health Worker and Promotores Model and developing systems that are effective and has garnered the reputation as being a premier CHW-focused organization. Through the years, organizations have inquired about the possibility of partnering with El Sol to learn more about CHWs/Promotores. El Sol is now pleased to offer the opportunity for organizations to be recognized as an El Sol Affiliated Entity.
Support is offered by experienced staff, via telephone, email, or webinar to support planning, development, implementation, to ensure adherence to model fidelity based and best practice standards. On-site assistance is also available if needed.
Affiliates may request initial consultation in the response or development of grant applications that use the CHW/Promotores Model.
Designation as an Affiliate communicates to your community, funders, and policy makers that you are committed to grassroots empowerment by implementing a Community Health Workers/Promotores de Salud program adhering to program Philosophy.
All affiliates can access comprehensive in-person training for all staffing levels, including program management or field-based Promotores. Ongoing training opportunities and web-based training opportunities are also available to affiliates from other affiliates capacities.
Affiliates will learn about El Sol’s Community Health Worker/Promotores model and strong research base and receive support in undertaking any research and evaluation opportunities of their own. Additionally, affiliates will receive reports annually, which compare key elements of their programming to national and state trends.
El Sol provides training and analysis of proposals that impact community health workers and Promotores de Salud, including but not limited to home visiting, child abuse prevention, and the families we serve in our communities. El Sol also offers support in systems development and in seeking legislative and public support for prevention.
All affiliates receive print-ready logos and “Affiliate Seal” in various colors and file types. Additionally, El Sol is continually developing resources for local sites to use as they advocate for their families and continued programming. The Affiliation may be displayed in a public location in your office (or on website) to communicate adherence to Promotores de Salud principles and philosophy.
To ensure that El Sol remains responsive to the changing needs and challenges of the network and that policy and procedures are implemented effectively, advisory committees (made up of individuals from the El Sol network) create a two-way dialogue that prioritizes the best interest of the network.
There is synergy in applying or implementing joint initiatives. El Sol may contact affiliates to be part of a project, or conversely, affiliates may request that El Sol join them in their projects. The goal is to increase level of funding flowing to organizations focused on Community Health Workers and Promorores.
El Sol convenes workgroups and conferences which allow organizations to leverage co-learning opportunities and to continue networking and developing capacity.
